We argue that two central stages—identifying concrete problem instances expected to exhibit quantum advantage, and connecting such instances to real-world use cases—represent essential and currently under-resourced challenges.

As quantum computing moves from theory toward practical utility, the quantum research team at Dell Technologies is actively researching how to integrate quantum systems into high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Our team is developing flexible software infrastructures, hybrid orchestration frameworks, and benchmarking prototypes to enable seamless quantum-classical workflows. We will share insights from our work on quantum resource allocation engines, low-latency co-location strategies, and middleware for workload distribution. This talk will highlight the technical challenges—such as error correction, interconnect latency, and scheduling—and the solutions we are building to prepare for utility-scale quantum computing. Attendees will gain a view into Dell’s research roadmap for pairing leadership-class HPC with emerging quantum hardware to accelerate scientific and enterprise workloads.

The quantum future is rapidly becoming reality, with industry leaders anticipating Quantum Advantage within the next few years, and industry value much sooner. Q-CTRL collaborated with Network Rail and the UK Department for Transport to develop a quantum-enhanced rail scheduling solver powered by Fire Opal. By applying advanced error suppression and optimization workflows on real IBM quantum hardware, the team achieved a sixfold increase in solvable problem size and accelerated the timeline to practical quantum advantage by up to three years—now projected for 2028. This milestone marks a major step toward realizing quantum computing’s real-world impact in large-scale infrastructure and transport optimization.

Olivier Ezratty will look at the prospects of the energy consumption of FTQC quantum computers based on vendor roadmaps across multiple qubit modalities. He will refine the definition of an energetic quantum advantage, introducing the notion of energy acceptability for large scale FTQC QPUs. He will introduce a multi-tier FTQC energetic and power optimization framework using a mix of reductionist and holistic approaches covering classical computing, classical control, and quantum physics. He will also show how utility-grade algorithms resource and computing time estimates bring new questions on the energetic and power costs of quantum computing.

We formulate fixed–backbone computational protein design (CPD) as a quadratic Hamiltonian over rotamer variables and benchmark Quantum Computing Inc.’s Dirac-3 entropy-based optimizer against optimal solutions from an exact classical method. Overall, Dirac-3 exhibits gentle runtime scaling and robust performance, indicating practical promise for large CPD instances where exact classical methods become time-prohibitive.

In a landmark demonstration using its Tiqker optical atomic clock and the Quantum Corridor fiber network, Infleqtion synchronized two data centers to within mere picoseconds (trillionths of a second) across 12 miles of rugged Chicago-land cityscape, showcasing quantum-enabled timing with immediate real-world implications. Data centers can now coordinate workloads with unprecedented precision, reducing latency and ensuring consistent timestamps across distributed systems. Financial markets benefit from trades timestamped in perfect lockstep across global exchanges, bolstering fairness and regulatory compliance. Telecommunications networks synchronized at this level will see lower latency and more efficient bandwidth usage. Infleqtion's onsite hardware clocks also reduce reliance on vulnerable GPS signals, making the critical data infrastructure more resilient to space weather (solar flares), changes in atmospheric conditions and electromagnetic interference

Building on last year’s 28.5× circuit-depth reduction achieved in collaboration with GSK, IBM, and Haiqu, we introduce additional methodological advances. These include more aggressive yet accuracy-controlled Hamiltonian truncation, an extra tensor-networks based entanglement-guided compression, error-aware operator grouping, and refined transpilation heuristics that jointly minimize two-qubit gates, circuit depth, and qubit routing overhead. Combined with noise-tailoring and mitigation, these improvements further shrink circuit depth and gate count for Hamiltonian-dynamics electronic-structure simulations of sulfonyl-fluoride drug candidates while preserving dynamical fidelity against classical references. We demonstrate an improvement in the problem size that we are able to handle, provide error and resource-scaling analyses, and show how the workflow delivers actionable reactivity insights for lead optimization in pharmaceutical development.

The National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) is the mission scientific computing facility for the U.S. Department of Energy and provides high performance computing and data analysis resources to more than 12,000 users. A substantial fraction of workloads run on NERSC systems involves solving quantum many-body problems, underscoring the significant potential of QC technologies to advance NERSC's scientific mission. In this talk, we will see how NERSC is preparing for this emerging technology and share recent progress from our R&D activities and quantum user programs.

The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) proposed a way to recast fluid-dynamics equations (using a Carleman form of Burgers’ equation) into linear systems that a quantum computer can work with. Together, NRL and BlueQubit moved this from theory to practice on IBM’s Heron processor. We built a Variational Quantum Linear Solver (VQLS) for the fluid model and trained it with BlueQubit’s Hierarchical Learning, a step-by-step curriculum that keeps circuits shallow and training stable on today’s hardware. The workflow: turn the PDE into a linear system, map it to a quantum circuit, and train in stages on the device. This is an early, practical demonstration of a quantum approach to fluid dynamics on real hardware, pointing toward scalable workflows for more complex flows as devices and methods improve.

Mission impact is critical to customers and to the success of the quantum industry. GDIT hosts a fireside chat with key quantum partners to garner insights on how addressing customer mission requirements impacted technology / product / team capabilities.

Classical RF technologies are at their performance limits, and there is near-term quantum advantage that atomic sensing can bring to key National Security missions in Electronic Warfare and Remote Sensing. This joint presentation between Infleqtion and Booz Allen explores how Quantum RF (QRF) and Optical Atomic Clock (Tiqker) technology is transforming next-generation communications and sensing systems. The partners will share the fundamentals of QRF and Tiqker, explore the impact of Infleqtion’s development roadmap, and discuss how Booz Allen envisions these quantum sensors addressing critical mission challenges. In congested and contested operational environments, quantum-enabled RF sensing and precision timing will ensure resilience, performance, and national security.

Quobly is advancing silicon-based quantum computing by engineering qubit devices fully compatible with industrial CMOS flows. Maud Vinet, CEO and co-founder, will outline Quobly’s architecture and fabrication strategy for scalable spin-qubit platforms. Nicolas Daval, Chief Engineering Officer, will present the setting up of the supply chain with Soitec’s 28Si-enriched FD-SOI substrates inserted into STMicroelectronics’ 300 mm line, and will present recent progress highlighting controlled variability, material purity, and process reproducibility at scale. Their talk will detail how Quobly is establishing an industrial-grade qubit manufacturing pipeline, enabling the transition from laboratory prototypes to fab-ready quantum hardware.

As Europe’s energy sector evolves to meet climate, security, and competitiveness goals, Elia Group role, as a grid owner and operator, is becoming increasingly complex. We require new and ever-more effective tools to maintain grid stability, ensure cost efficiency, and integrate higher amounts of renewable energy into the system. Although still in its early stages of development, quantum computing is emerging as a promising way to address these challenges.

Quantum error correction (QEC) is an essential requirement on the path to utility-scale quantum computing. Riverlane and Rigetti are working together in a long-term collaboration to advance the hardware capabilities needed for fault tolerant quantum computation. In a recent project, Riverlane’s QEC stack Deltaflow, was integrated with Rigetti’s quantum computer, as part of a series of testbeds at the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).

Frequent, severe floods demand rapid insights from vast satellite data, but traditional analytics can’t keep pace. Our competition winning entry for the NASA’s “Beyond the Algorithm” Challenge applied our hybrid quantum-classical techniques to improve flood detection. Our approach is designed to bring provide value today using quantum algorithms which can run on existing hardware. We are expanding this approach with open-source tools for broader climate and space applications, and welcome partnerships to turn quantum innovation into real-world impact for disaster response.

As quantum computing advances through the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era, the pursuit of near-term quantum advantage remains a central theme. This panel will examine what near-term quantum advantage entails, the realistic possibilities it presents, and its significance for Applied Quantum Computing. Through expert insights and practical perspectives, we aim to clarify how emerging quantum capabilities can deliver meaningful impact before fault-tolerant systems become mainstream.

Accurate electronic-structure prediction for metalloenzymes can accelerate development, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact for consumer-product sector. We present a hybrid classical-quantum workflow on a cobalt complex using AVAS-selected active spaces and CASSCF benchmarks, combined with a quantum-compatible Local Unitary Coupled Cluster with Jastrow initialized from CCSD and solved via Sample-Based Quantum Diagonalization. This approach captures strong static correlation and spin-dependent reactivity with lower resource overhead than full multireference methods, enabling confident prioritization of enzyme variants and catalytic pathways.

This session outlines AWS's quantum strategy and latest service capabilities, demonstrating how organizations can begin experimenting with quantum algorithms alongside classical computing workloads. Senior technical and business leaders will gain a clear understanding of current quantum capabilities, experimental approaches, and how future quantum computers will integrate with HPC systems.

Quantum emerged from the global scientific community. As uses with economic value and national security implications have been discovered, commercialization is driving cross-border business while governments are striving for technological self-sufficiency. This talk reviews public and private sector actions and how they intersect.

Quantum computation at useful scales requires tight integration between real-time quantum control systems and high-throughput classical accelerators. This work presents Quantum Machines’ vision for such integration that includes multiple latency regimes, and variegated classical resources. We detail the OPX1000 controller with dense pulse-level orchestration and integrated classical processing, and a CPU-GPU-QPU integration via NVIDIA DGX Quantum. We illustrate example of workflows enabled by this novel system, for optimization and large-scale calibration routines based on reinforcement learning, together with a quantum error correction decoding on classical accelerators. Together, these components define a practical roadmap to utility-grade, fault-tolerant quantum supercomputers grounded in hybrid control.

The Midwest is rapidly becoming a powerhouse for quantum innovation, with Northwest Indiana at its core. Fueled by Purdue Northwest’s Roberts Impact Lab for applied quantum research, the nation’s first quantum-secure communications testbed, and a recent $600 million Defense Innovation OnRamp award to the Applied Research Institute (ARI), the region is redefining how the U.S. accelerates technology commercialization for national defense and economic growth. The panel will explore: How public-private-academic partnerships are aligning to make the Midwest a quantum epicenter. The role of the Roberts Impact Lab and regional assets in bridging R&D with real-world defense applications. Infrastructure and policy advantages making Northwest Indiana a launchpad for next-generation quantum and AI-enabled technologies.

Global demand for compute is insatiable, and the quantum computing industry is on the brink of a “ChatGPT moment” - a breakthrough use case that will fuel this demand even further. The race is on to build quantum computers with 10 KiloQubits and beyond, but due to chip packaging bottlenecks, current approaches rely on networked systems with multiple chillers and interconnects, which introduce complexity, cost, and performance limitations. QuantWare’s VIO 3D architecture resolves these scaling issues—fan-out, modularity, heat load, and component integration—enabling truly modular scaling. VIO delivers vastly lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and higher compute per watt. VIO is rapidly becoming the scaling standard and is being adopted by leading players. "For decades, quantum effects were thought to exist only in well isolated systems with pristine qubits. However, recent discoveries in biology have confirmed that even in noisy, open systems, quantum effects can not only exist, but can also play vital functional roles. These insights open the door to a new approach in quantum computing that is inherently robust, scalable and capable of operating at room temperature. In this talk, I will trace our journey since 2006 in developing the theoretical framework, demonstrating proof-of-concept, and now commercial systems for quantum computing in open systems."

Quantum advantage is the next major milestone in quantum computing. Achieving it will take more than progress in hardware and error correction. End users must contribute with demand-side innovation to bend the timeline forward for the entire industry.

GQI will present the results of our recent Quantum Market Model (QMM) study to forecast the economic values available in quantum tech for both providers and users of the technology in the major product segments including quantum computing, quantum communications, quantum-safe, and quantum sensing. The model provides a multi-dimensional view of the markets to allow analysis from different perspectives including value chain segments, technology era, market scenarios, timeframe, end-use industry, and geography.

Olivier Ezratty will present a framework to analyze quantum computing use cases and case studies, starting will detailing the vendor and academic semantics used here, and then how to seriously grade the value of these cases along multiple figures of merit and quantum advantage categories. He will derive some lessons from the multiple existing NISQ toy models cases, and the first early applications showing some potential quantum advantage in multiple domains. He will then cast the role of resource estimates for FTQC future use cases as key to enhance the dialog between end-users and industry vendors.

The Masterclass will show how quantum computing will have a wide impact for all sectors of the global economy. For end users it will describe a structured approach for quantum adoption to take them from identifying appropriate industry problems to deployment. It will include a brief description of important algorithms with an emphasis on those we think have the best possibility of achieving early value.

G-QuAT started operating a GPU-HPC system for quantum computing research and QPUs this year. Testing services are also provided for suppliers and vendors. G-QuAT’s main mission is market creation; therefore, we cover fundamental activities such as leading-edge research, fabrication and testing services, standardization, and other related areas. Market creation through quantum computing requires international collaboration in both R&D and business. This involves not only collaborative research and development, but also enhancing global workforce mobility.

When quantum computing becomes useful, it will be in the form of a new kind of co-processor or accelerator in analogy to the GPU of 20 years ago. We will discuss several issues in computer architecture that need to be resolved so that this model can flourish and describe how the NVQLink enables the entire quantum industry to overcome these issues.

There are now unprecedented strategic investments in building superconducting Quantum Compute capability, but organizations building their first full stack Quantum Computer face a dilemma. Full stack offerings have the attraction of a complete system, but easily run into the mid-to-high tens of millions of dollars. These systems can also be black box with a lack of flexibility in implementation, scaling options, or subsystem vendor selection. Alternatively, there is the option to assemble a solution in-house, but that can take up to 1 year or more to evaluate supplier options, place orders, assemble systems, and validate performance. While offering a more cost effective, flexible, and transparent option, these in-house solutions also come with fear, uncertainty, and a burden to up-skill on the specialized nature of maintaining a quantum system. However, with their newly announced Quantum Utility Block (or "QUB”) partnership, QuantWare, Q-CTRL and Qblox bring proven full stack Open Architecture reference implementations to their joint customers, greatly reducing the barrier of entry to full stack Quantum Compute. QUB provides a new third option, allowing organizations to achieve their Quantum Computer goals faster, at significantly lower cost and with greater control.
