CSL Behring and Infleqtion have partnered to use quantum computation to model the ubiquitous biopharmaceutical problem of protein chromatography, which is used to separate and purify proteins. The team explored the pros and cons of solving the problem via different quantum solutions including QAOA, quantum annealing, and Infleqtion’s Q-CHOP algorithm. Resource estimation was also conducted to estimate the resources required to reach quantum advantage for this problem, which would revolutionize the biopharmaceutical industry in its quest to discover and develop new drug treatments.
