It is no longer a contrarian position that quantum computers require fault tolerance for useful applications. However, even in this regime it is incumbent on us to make concrete statements about: (i) how difficult algorithms are to run on a prespecified piece of hardware; (ii) how much improvement we can expect with better compilation of those algorithms; and (iii) whether we can broaden utility of that hardware by unlocking new algorithms. In this talk, we will discuss PsiQuantum’s recent efforts in tackling these problems, both in terms of building new algorithms but also in developing tools to help expedite the process.
