The High Performance Computing (HPC) community is technically deep, pursues grand challenge problems, and is eager to experiment with promising new tools with an early-adopter mentality. This makes it the ideal destination for emerging technologies in general, and quantum computing in particular. This talk is a condensed dive into a framework for what HPC is and what it needs, the current state of quantum computing in HPC, the race between GPUs and quantum computing, and where HPC is going: in enabling and using AI, integration of devices and accelerators, problem spaces, technology directions, and acquisition models.
