The most promising quantum computing technologies poised to achieve near-term quantum advantage rely on microwave engineering and metrology to implement, observe, and manipulate quantum mechanical principles such as superposition and entanglement to achieve significant advances in computing power. The UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is focussed on addressing various test and measurement challenges in quantum computing through the UK’s National Quantum Technologies programme. This talk will outline the various cryogenic microwave test and measurement capabilities at NPL, and how these capabilities can support industry and academia to create new and improved products for quantum computing.
