Quantum-Centric Computational Modelling for MOFs in Carbon Capture

Carbon capture technology stands out as an adaptable and source-agnostic approach for curbing CO2 emissions, focusing on removing CO2 post-generation rather than preventing its production. Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are versatile materials offering a commercial route to industrial carbon capture and storage due to their ability to adsorb molecules through large pores and internal surface area. In this presentation, we present a highly transferable, end-to-end protocol to incorporate quantum simulations in quantum computers to this real-world research problem. The protocol can be easily tune to better balance accuracy and computational cost, and we estimate that can be routinely applied within the next five years.
