Resource-Efficient Error Correction for Neutral Atom Quantum Computers

Quantum error correction is critical to scaling quantum computers to useful sizes, but usually comes at a significant resource overhead in space and time. Quantum computers based on neutral atoms in dynamically configurable optical tweezers support long-range connectivity and transversal gates on logical qubits, enabling unique and powerful architectures. In this talk, I will present recent results from a QuEra-Harvard collaboration, showing that these properties can be leveraged to ensure a constant error correction overhead both in space and in time, and thus reduce the space-time cost of error correction by orders of magnitude in these systems.
